Please do contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you cannot find the answer to your question below:
Where do you collect the air from?
Coast Capture Air collect fresh coastal Air from a number of coastal locations around Great Britain. These locations are often remote, hard to reach and unpopulated by man or machinery. The air collected is therefore pure and fragile.
How can you guarantee the purity of the air?
To make sure that the air we capture for our many customers is as pure and unpolluted as possible, we utilise highly specific and sensitive air quality monitors to measure Particulate Matter and demonstrate the captured air is of exceptional quality. Unlike some of our competitors, we work closely with a leading UK Air Monitor Manufacturer to ensure that the air is scientifically proven to contain extremely low levels of any criteria pollutants.
For many years now, Air Quality has been assessed by measuring “Criteria Pollutants” using “Reference” standard monitors:
- NO2 (and associated NO)
- SO2 (this is now much reduced by the use of low-sulphur Diesel, and reduction of use of Coal as a fuel)
- PM-10 (Particulate Matter)
Other components that could also be measured include VOCs, Black Carbon etc. CO2 is often mentioned (as it is easy to measure), but this is more of a Greenhouse Gas.
We have therefore found that measurement of Particulate Matter using portable instruments has the best correlation to “Reference” monitors.
How do you ‘capture’ the air?
We have researched and trialled our air capturing technique over a number of years. For trademark purposes our air capturing techniques, processes and equipment remain undisclosed. This is not to say that we cannot photograph or film the process leading up to the actual capture but we are bound by legal agreements not to disclose our intellectual property rights.
How fresh is the air you capture?
To maintain the high quality of the air we capture, we bottle and seal at source and ship within 24 hours of the actual capture. We use glass bottles to contain the air. For the many benefits of choosing high quality glass containers, please see our blog: Why We Choose to use British Glass.
Is fresh coastal air really good for you, or is it all hype?
The health benefits of inhaling fresh coastal air are well known both scientifically and anecdotally. Coast Capture Air asked the above question to a number of qualified experts when we first began investigating the research surrounding capturing fresh coastal air. Please see our blog: The Health Benefits of Fresh Coastal Air for further interesting information on this topic.
I’ve heard about people selling air before, how do you differ from your competitors?
There will always be people selling air but there are no guarantees to the customer that their purchase is authentic. Coast Capture Air differ from their competitors in numerous ways. We list some of the factors that make us the preferred, number one choice below:
For coastal air capture:
To secure its curative properties, we only sell fresh coastal air that has been captured from the remote and rugged shorelines around Great Britain, where we can demonstrate particularly low levels of pollutants. This is authenticated with data from our particulate matter monitors and other instruments.
We often film or photograph the moment leading up to the air capture to authenticate the location and the weather conditions at the moment of capture.
We bottle and seal at source to preserve the quality of the air we capture. We therefore only collect a limited number of bottles at one time; our air captures are often reserved in advance of our expeditions by our customers, to be shipped globally.
All of the Coast Capture Air team possess the same strong values surrounding air quality and are passionate advocates of the clean air challenge. We have a strong environmental policy which we follow to the letter. See our Environmental Policy & Values on this website.
For personalised air capture:
The above benchmark standards also apply to our Personalised Air Capture service, the only difference being that the air is captured from the location our customers choose which is not necessarily a coastal location.
Lastly, we have excellent customer service and treat all our customers with the same care, attentiveness and consideration, which is why many of our customers return for repeat orders.
I’ve read that there are pollutants everywhere, isn’t this just a ‘barmy’ idea?
There are many potential “pollutants” in the air, dependent on location, weather, traffic, local industries etc. It is our aim to capture air from the remotest and least populated places around Great Britain.
The measurement of parameters involved in “Air Quality” is not necessarily easy, or cheap, as many “low-cost” sensors are available for Gases but these generally measure at around 10 times higher detection limits than Reference instruments, and are not as selective (they may have cross-interferences from other gases present). The devices we use can measure the above gasses (and PM) and uses sensor cross-interference corrections to augment the data produced.
What exactly is the raison d'être for capturing coastal air?
Coast Capture Air’s aim is that each bottle of freshly captured coastal air be a force for good; by being a ‘conversation starter’, an ‘awareness raiser’ and a gentle reminder to our customers and beyond, of the fragility of pure air as a rare commodity and ultimately, the belief that fresh coastal air should be a right and not a privilege.
It is now common knowledge that air pollution is a public health emergency, pervading every aspect of our lives; in our streets, towns and even in our homes via indoor air pollutants.
Air pollution can be linked to a number of respiratory ailments and diseases including Asthma, lung cancer, CHD, COPD, allergies and low birth rates. There is now increased public backing for air pollution measures which has mobilised action in many areas to reduce air pollution.
Coast Capture Air is a family business. We began by giving away coastal air to friends and family who came to stay at our seaside home, after they had stated their asthma and other respiratory ailments had subsided during their stay. Even insomnia sufferers managed to get a restful night’s slumber. It is from here that word spread and the rest is history.
To read more, please see Our Story and About Us which will go some way to demonstrate that each bottle of freshly captured coastal air encapsulates our values and our passion.
If you capture air from remote locations around Great Britain, is there any danger to the environment or wildlife at that location?
Throughout our air capture expeditions we are mindful of the impact we have on our environment. When choosing and attending areas for fresh coastal air capture, we are considerate not to harm or disturb wildlife and the fragile ecosystem. Please see our Environmental Policy & Values under the Locations tab for further information.
